Zacapa XO
Ron Zacapa is named after the town of Zacapa in Guatemala, when the town celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1976, Ron Zacapa added Centario to its name as a tribute.
What is special about this rum is that it matures at an altitude of 2,300 meters, which makes the maturing process extra slow. Zacapa XO is a blend of barrels that have been aged between 6 and 25 years. The maturing itself takes place in sherry barrels and is overseen by Lorena Vásquez. Yes, Lorena is a woman!
The “band” on the bottle refers to the woven palm leaves that people used to put around the bottles. In terms of taste, you can taste the sweetness of the sherry, light cognac flavor, the oak of the barrels and caramel.
